Startup companies face unique pressures, challenges, and opportunities. They are tech-enabled, and often need to scale their business rapidly with the help of equity investment from angel investors, venture capital firms, and other sources. Lawyers who advise these companies need to be mindful of these and other issues and consider the associated legal risks. Program faculty will identify common issues and help attendees develop strategies to address them.

Topics include:

• Shareholder agreements
• Pre-seed and seed financing
• Common employment issues
• Incentivizing stakeholders – an introduction to founder vesting and stock option plans
• Common intellectual property issues 
• Common tax issues
