These authors present an overview of the employment issues likely to arise in a junior solicitor’s practice. In particular, they touch on these basics: The Employment Standards Code, employment contracts, the nature of employment: who us an “employee”‘, employment considerations in the purchase and sale context, and restrictive covenants: how a business can protect its interests from departing employees. Finally, they provide an overview of the worker’s compensation scheme in Alberta.
