This paper examines humanitarian and compassionate [H&C] requests made in a variety of circumstances. It reviews the legislative framework for H& C requests under s 25 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. It also discusses the evidentiary burden and risk factors considered in determining H&C requests. Finally, tips for making persuasive H&C applications are provided, including tips for client consultations and evidence gathering.
