This course centers psychological well-being as the foundation for thriving in the legal profession. By shifting your focus from external measures of success to developing internal skills and alignment with your core values, you’ll build resilience, experience fulfillment, and find sustainable success. This course explores the following:

  • Recognizing and addressing burnout: Understanding how stress and trauma impact well-being.
  • Building resilience and key skills: Developing skills to navigate high-pressure environments.
  • Aligning actions with values: Cultivating authenticity for a meaningful and fulfilling career.

This model redefines success, not as a trade-off between work and life, but as the ability to thrive in both through resilience, self-awareness, and authenticity. Each module in this course provides practical tools, reflective exercises, and actionable steps to help you create a meaningful and sustainable legal career.

This course is taught by Jacqueline Y. Chu. Jacqueline is a leadership expert, author, and speaker specializing in authentic leadership. A former lawyer who now is a psychotherapist, she combines strategic insight with a deep understanding of human psychology. Jacqueline writes on trauma-informed personal mastery and is the author of Facing Your Anxiety: A Personal Guide to Freedom from Anxiety (Lotusmind Press, 2023).

This course relates to well-being, which is one of the domains in the Law Society of Alberta’s Professional Development Profile for Alberta Lawyers. It will take approximately two hours to complete.
