Alberta’s New Chief Justice | The Honourable Ritu Khullar

LESA wishes to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Honourable Ritu Khullar who was appointed Alberta’s new top judge by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday, November 28, 2022. Chief Justice Ritu Khullar is based in Edmonton. She was appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta in 2017 and then to the Court of Appeal of Alberta in 2018. In her years of practice she focused on labour and employment, privacy, administrative, human rights, and constitutional issues. Chief Justice Ritu Khullar is a long-time LESA supporter. She is currently a member of LESA’s Advisory Council and co-chairing our Appellate Advocacy program in April of 2023. Chief Justice Khullar will bring an abundance of knowledge and wisdom to her new role and we wish her all the best as she begins this next chapter.
