May is Asian Heritage Month throughout Canada, and we honour and acknowledge the rich contributions and history of Asian Canadians to the cultural, political, social, and economic fabric of our country. This year’s theme is “Unity in Diversity: The Impact of Asian Communities in Shaping Canadian Identity”.
Over the course of the last two centuries, Asian immigrants have journeyed to Canada. Today’s Asian Canadian community heralds from East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, Southwest Asia, and Southeast Asia. This month and beyond, we are invited to learn more about the history of Asian Canadians, their contributions to our community, and their diverse and vibrant cultures.
