    Effective chambers advocacy is critical in a family law practice. These on-demand programs will explore issues that often arise in family law chambers and help lawyers develop strategies to address them. These on-demand programs were originally presented on January 28, 2025. The total running time for each presentation ranges between 50 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Intersection of Mental Health and Family Law (On-Demand)

    Explore strategies for recognizing mental health issues, the impact of timing on litigation, and tools for handling mental health matters with clients. This on-demand program was originally presented as an in-person program titled Family Law Chambers and Practice Pointers on January 28, 2025.  Total running time is 50 minutes.

  • Dealing with Self-Represented Parties

    This paper reviews some important considerations for dealing with self-represented litigants in a family law context, and provides some strategies and tips that counsel can employ when dealing with self-represented parties. Topics discussed include costs, limited retainers, law society complaints, and professional responsibility considerations. This paper is part of a collection presented at LESA’s Family Law: Chambers Advocacy and Practice Pointers program in Red Deer on April 21, 2017.
