James Conley was appointed as a justice of the peace for Alberta in 2009 and is located in Calgary. He obtained his law degree from the University of Windsor and was admitted to the Ontario bar in 1978 and the Alberta bar in 1979. He was a Crown Prosecutor with Alberta Justice in Edmonton and Calgary from 1980-1988 and thereafter was in private practice in Calgary until his appointment. His practice areas included civil litigation, criminal defence and professional discipline.
