This paper introduces the basics of disclosure in family law, including some tips for best practices. It provides a review of s 21 of the Federal Child Support Guidelines, as well as the disclosure requirements outlined in the Alberta Rules of Court and notices from the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta. In addition, the frequency of disclosure requests is discussed in the context of s 25 of the Federal Child Support Guidelines. This paper includes: a sample family law client questionnaire; a sample disclosure cover page; a sample disclosure statement form; a sample notice to disclose application form; and a sample monthly budget.
