Consider a basic overview of employment law, labour law, and human rights law and the important ways in which these differing areas of law overlap. Explore examples of unique issues that may arise when working on employment and/or labour law files, such as: applications and common forms used before the Labour Relations Board, limitations and deadlines for Labour Relations Board proceedings, nuances in labour arbitrations versus civil litigation, settlement agreements, and changes to processes at the Alberta Human Rights Commission. This program is designed for legal support staff who are new to employment law or for those looking to revisit the basics.
