$2,495.00Mediation is increasingly important in the practice of family law. Receive 40 hours of intensive, hands-on skills training in this in-depth, 5-day course. Develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding to build a competent and professional mediation practice.
Topics include:
• 5-stage mediation model
• Techniques of developing relationships in mediation
• Positional negotiation vs. interest based negotiation
• 5 basic negotiating principles
• Screening
• Intake interviews
• Mediation/arbitration agreements
• Calculating child support
• Spousal support – advisory guidelines
Utilizing demonstrations of the mediation process, analysis of taped mediations, lecture and discussion, extensive participant simulation exercises with trainer feedback, informal individual consultations, extensive course materials with all the forms necessary for practice, outlines of the mediation process, and detailed checklists of the issues to be addressed in most cases, this course is designed to facilitate the ultimate learning experience.
It will address major issues confronted in the divorce process to include matrimonial property division, child and spousal support and all phases of parenting plans. Experts in the field will present to all participants the legal areas of the law.

Mediation of Family and Divorce Conflicts satisfies one of the course requirements to become a collaborative professional and is recognized by collaborative law associations in Alberta.
This training in this course is the same curriculum offered in other North American jurisdictions although the jurisprudence and the law may differ.
