Practice Foundations: Western Conveyancing Protocol

Are you a lawyer in your first few years of real estate practice? Or, perhaps you’ve been practicing for a while but wish to revisit Protocol fundamentals.

LESA is pleased to announce an upcoming webinar that explores the Protocol, what is and is not covered by the Protocol, and how to follow the Protocol. As the common closing method in residential real estate transactions in Alberta, it is imperative that lawyers (acting for buyers and/or sellers) have a solid understanding of the Western Torrens Conveyancing Protocol.

Common challenges will also be discussed, including:

  • Grey areas surrounding the Protocol which might give rise to uncertainty about whether the Protocol applies
  • How to address these grey areas (from both a seller and a buyer perspective)
  • Trust condition issues that may arise when grey areas are present
