Data Security and Privacy Issues in Online Services and Cloud Computing

SKU: 61961.01

This paper, written by a prominent practitioner in the areas of technology, intellectual property and privacy, provides an excellent overview of privacy laws in Alberta. It then goes on to review the impact of those laws on online services and cloud computing. After explaining cloud computing, the author applies Alberta’s privacy laws to online service and cloud computing service providers. He reviews two examples of data security breaches and their consequences and, finally, provides sample provisions for agreements for online services and cloud computing.

This paper is part of a collection presented at LESA’s Technology Contracts program in September, 2015.
